Rising 1,401 feet above Midtown Manhattan, One Vanderbilt is the tallest commercial skyscraper in Midtown and among the top 30 tallest buildings in the world. At its summit sits one of New York City's most extraordinary experiences - SUMMIT One Vanderbilt. Far more than a traditional observation deck, SUMMIT blends immersive art installations, breathtaking views, interactive experiences, and heart-stopping thrills across three levels and over 65,000 square feet of multi-sensory wonder. From the mind-bending reflective worlds of the AIR installation to the glass-bottomed elevator of Ascent, SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is unlike anything else in New York City.

Your SUMMIT journey begins with AIR - one of the largest and most mind-bending cultural experiences in New York City, created by artist Kenzo Digital. Your senses are reset as you ascend through a series of extraordinary immersive spaces:
AIR: Transcendence 1
Emerge into a structureless world of reflection with its own unique relationship to physics and time.
AIR: Transcendence 2
Experience the sense of boundless space as you peer down to Transcendence 1 and look upon 30,375 square feet of mirrors.
AIR: Affinity
The experience becomes interactive and playful as you connect physically to the space.

Levitation

Ascent
Dare to go higher with Ascent - the world's largest external glass-bottomed elevator. Rising from the terrace level up the side of One Vanderbilt to over 1,200 feet above the city, Ascent offers the most thrilling and breathtaking perspective of New York City available anywhere. The perfect finale to every SUMMIT journey.
Admission to Ascent is not included in our tickets. Tickets may be purchased separately, on-site, at an additional cost.

Relax and unwind with curated food and cocktails in the Nordic-style café and lounge designed by Snøhetta, surrounded by incomparable views of the New York City skyline. Après can be enjoyed both inside the beautifully designed lounge and outside on the SUMMIT Terrace
Getting There:
SUMMIT One Vanderbilt has three entrances - please note there is no access to SUMMIT from the One Vanderbilt lobbies:
Through the Transit Hall in One Vanderbilt, located at the corner of Vanderbilt Avenue and 43rd Street.
Street-level entrance at 45 East 42nd Street.
Via the Main Concourse Level of Grand Central Terminal.
By Subway: Lines 4, 5, 6, 7, and Shuttle at Grand Central, 42nd Street.
By Bus: M101, M102, M103, M1, M2, M3, M4, Q32, and M42.
By Metro-North: Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven lines arrive at Grand Central Terminal.
By Car: Nearby parking garages are available in the area at an additional charge. Rates, hours, and availability may vary.
Access-A-Ride: Paratransit Service drop-off and pick-up is on the corner of East 43rd Street and Lexington Avenue.
Accessibility:
Every level of SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is fully wheelchair accessible. Guests are encouraged to bring their own wheelchair, however a limited number of wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Accessible restrooms are available on each observation deck level, with a designated family restroom on Level OB1. Guests with low vision or no vision can request the aid of a sighted guide in advance of their visit - all requests must be submitted via the SUMMIT contact page.

SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is genuinely one of the most extraordinary experiences New York City has to offer. It goes so far beyond a traditional observation deck - the combination of world-class immersive art, heart-stopping glass ledges, and the breathtaking Ascent elevator makes it an unforgettable experience from start to finish. If you are visiting New York City, this is an absolute must.
We recommend allowing 60 to 90 minutes to fully enjoy all offerings and experiences at SUMMIT One Vanderbilt.
Shirt and shoes must be worn at all times. Offensive or threatening language and messaging on apparel is not permitted. Due to the presence of reflective and transparent flooring materials throughout the experience, we recommend wearing trousers, shorts, or tights. A non-reflective privacy path is available for guests uncomfortable walking on reflective surfaces.
Photography with personal handheld devices and cameras is welcome throughout the experience. Please note that equipment used for film and TV production, including tripods, is not permitted.
FAQs
- Please arrive at your scheduled time. Late arrivals will be accommodated based on availability and subject to a $25 rescheduling fee – you may be asked to wait until the first possible open time slot.
- As SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is a unique space, please note the following attire requirements:
- Wear comfortable shoes. Stiletto heels, steel toe boots, sports cleats and other footwear that can damage mirrored flooring are not permitted.
- Dress appropriately to avoid unwanted exposure on glass and mirrored floors. We recommend wearing pants, shorts or tights when possible.
- If visiting during the day, it’s recommended bringing sunglasses
- Food and beverages, including cocktails, are available for purchase onsite at Après.
- SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is so much more than a great view. It’s recommended allowing a couple of hours to enjoy all offerings and experiences.
- Complimentary wifi is available throughout SUMMIT.
- Professional photography moments are available through the experiences and are available to purchase at the end of your journey in both print and digital format.
- There is no storage for person items. large bags, large backpacks and luggage are not permitted.

The entrance of SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is located on the Main Concourse Level of Manhattan’s Grand Central Terminal, inside Vanderbilt Passage.
Street entrance is located next to TD Bank at 45 East 42nd Street, between Madison and Vanderbilt Avenues. Proceed down the stairs (not the escalators) and turn right.
Top of the Rock is wheelchair-friendly, stroller-friendly, and service animal-friendly. Plus, there are printed transcripts and audio headsets available upon request.
Inside 24 hours of your selected ticket date, you will incur a 100% cancellation fee.
Tickets aren’t refunded due to weather, but you can speak to the staff on-site, and they may be able to reschedule your ticket for another day, depending on availability.
Due to the nature of the attraction and the reflective and transparent flooring, we recommend appropiate undergarments such as wearing pants, shorts, or tights to enjoy the full SUMMIT experience. For guests who may be uncomfortable walking on reflective surfaces, SUMMIT offers a non-reflective privacy path through the space.
