Get ready for animal adventures of epic proportions at the UK’s biggest zoo!
ZSL Whipsnade Zoo is home to more than 2,500 animals – many of which are endangered – with specially-designed enclosures that are carefully created to imitate their natural environments.
Get closer than you imagined to the zoo’s most exciting animals with interactive and immersive habitats including Cheetah Rock, In with the Lemurs, Rhinos of Nepal and the “Chimpnasium”.
You might even encounter some species roaming freely around the grounds, like the Patagonian mara, Chinese water deer, wallabies and more!

Lions of the Serengeti
A truly unforgettable experience that gives you unique views of Whipsnade’s pride of African lions.
Hullabazoo Adventure Play
Little explorers can enjoy the new outdoor play adventure and let their imaginations run wild with overr 7,800 square metres of themed play area! Bridges, swings, climbing frames, sit-on crocodiles, tunnels, boats, mini safari jeeps and so much more – all included in your admission ticket!
Chimpnasium
The chimps have a wonderful enclosure including an extensive indoor gymnasium so they can swing to their hearts’ content!
Passage Through Asia
A large rolling paddock with no barriers between you and the animals; home to Bactrian camels, yak, Pere David’s deer and more.
Butterfly House
You’ll be surrounded by hundreds of colourful butterflies from around the world. In one of the largest butterfly biomes of any UK zoo.
Kids’ Hullabazoo Farm
Children will have the time of their lives meeting a whole host of farmyard friends in this up-close adventure.
Explore ZSL Whipsnade Zoo by car!
As the zoo is so large, visitors are allowed to bring their cars into the large drive-through area, ‘Passage through Asia’.
Another fun way to see the animals is on The Great Whipsnade Railway, the steam trains which weave their way through the territories of some of the zoo’s most popular animals, like the elephants, rhinos and camels.
Aquarium at ZSL Whipsnade
Dedicated to conserving threatened and extinct in the wild freshwater fish, you can now come face to face with the toothy Pinstripe Damba fish!

By car
Only 20 minutes from the M25 (junction 21), ZSL Whipsnade Zoo is signposted from the M1 (junction 9 and junction 12) and all major roads – just follow the elephant on the above map.
By bus
Centrebus local bus services 40 and 40A operate from Dunstable to ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. A Whipsnade Zoo Group Ticket is available offering up to 5 people travelling together unlimited travel on the day of purchase in the Luton & Dunstable Zone plus to and from Whipsnade Zoo on services 40 and 40A. Whipsnade Zoo opens at 10am. Closing times vary throughout the year.
Most of the zoo is accessible for wheelchair users and those with walking difficulties. However there may be restrictions in some areas.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult..
